I graduated from high school in 1979 and entered the United States Army, where I studied to become a Food Service Specialist. Upon discharge from the Army, I married and moved to Virginia. After being a Chef for some time, I decided to try something different. I spent the next 8 years as a Floral Designer creating beautiful designs for some of the most prestigious hotels in Washington, D.C. When my marriage ended in 1997, I moved to Georgia. Continuing as a Designer, I started teaching classes to adults and even learned some crafts to teach to children. Marrying in 2000, I moved to Florida and tried my hand as a hostess for Chili's Restaurant and as a Leasing Consultant. Things have changed in my life including the ending of my marriage. As you grow, life makes you stronger and I believe that things always happen for a reason.
Growing up, my mother always told us that we could do anything we wanted or be anyone we wanted to be as long as we applied ourselves and believed in ourselves.
I hadn't planned on writing a book, but when the same phrase kept 'popping' in my head I decided to look for it. I thought that I had read it in a book or perhaps seen it as a preview to a movie I wanted to see. After reviewing all the books I owned and searching for information on all upcoming movies, I couldn't find anything. I started writing it down thinking that once it was out of my head it would end. Before long, I had a story that is now a published book. I never dreamed of being a writer, but I have always been told that I have a creative mind.
I now live in the Bayou's of Louisiana with my cat, Indio. I am working on more books and trying my hand at short stories. The second book. Laughter with Sunshine, which shows the healing and the rebuilding of lives involved in my first publication, Heart Aches & Rainy Days, will be out within the next two years.
